Meet The Taste Expert
Chef Warren King is a passionate culinary artist dedicated to teaching and mentoring the next generation of chefs. With a firm belief that being a chef extends beyond just cooking, he sees sharing knowledge and skills as essential to the culinary journey. Respect in the kitchen is paramount for him, fostering a positive environment where creativity and collaboration flourish.
While Chef Warren has a deep affection for French cuisine, his culinary style is an expressive fusion that reflects his heart and experiences. Inspired by a variety of flavours, he seamlessly blends elements from Asian cuisine, creating unique and memorable dishes.
It wasn’t until age 24 that he discovered this passion for food, thanks to an opportunity to work overseas with renowned chefs who became instrumental in his development. He understands that the culinary profession demands commitment and long hours, but he believes that treating each ingredient with respect is the key to success.
Chef Warren King has drawn inspiration from culinary giants such as Sean Key from Miami, who taught him the importance of staff management and hard work, and Marco Pierre White, whose influence is undeniable. Locally, he has been shaped by the experiences gained while working alongside Christo Pretorius at the 12 Apostles Hotel & Spa, where he honed his skills under pressure and learned the art of fine dining.
Mentors like Chef Michael McIntyre have instilled in him the importance of staying calm under stress, while Chef Chris Erasmus has shared invaluable lessons about nature and foraging. Lastly, Chef Simon Kemp has inspired him with his humility and mastery of the craft.
Through a commitment to excellence and a passion for mentoring, Chef Warren King continues to elevate the culinary scene, one dish and one chef at a time.
